At Wilderness, we put you, the customer, at the centre of everything we do. This is the Wilderness Way, and it is guided by our company values. We’re committed to being a force for good, which starts with kaitiakitanga, or guardianship, a deep respect for the land.
We’re proud to share that, as of November 2025, that commitment is now official. Wilderness has been awarded B Corp certification, joining other purpose-driven New Zealand companies, such as Kiwibank, Allbirds, and Karma Drinks.
For you, this certification is a clear guarantee: When you purchase a motorhome from Wilderness, you’re choosing a company that wants to be a catalyst for change here in Aotearoa.
B Corp is a badge of honour that shows a company meets high standards of social and environmental impact and wants to continue improving. B Lab, a non-profit organisation, assesses companies based on the five main areas of B Corp certification: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. These areas are reviewed to measure a company's social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
The non-profit B Lab checks that a company meets high standards for:
Accountability: Being B Corp certified means that we’re committed to thinking about how our decisions affect everyone—employees, customers, the community, and the environment.
Environmental performance: Because the natural world is the heart of your motorhome adventure, we are committed to minimising our footprint and protecting it.
Social impact: We strive to make a positive difference for our employees and the wider community.
Transparency: We share our performance and impact openly, so you can see our progress.
Our belief that business can be a force for good has always guided us. That's why Wilderness is built on our values of He Tangata (people first), Live Above The Line (a commitment to accountability), and our commitment to Make Our Planet A Better Place. Achieving B Corp certification was the natural next step: a way to honour these values, find meaningful opportunities to strengthen our business, and push ourselves further on our sustainability journey.
Ultimately, becoming a B Corp provides a framework that helps us continuously improve and gives us a structure to measure, track and strengthen those efforts.
Being a B Corp strengthens our promise by:
Putting purpose before profit: B Corp certification formalises our ongoing commitment to our community, customers, team, and environment. This brings our He Tangata and Live Above The Line values to life and makes us accountable for our impact.
Learning from other purpose-driven companies: This certification connects us to a global community of nearly 10,000 B Corps. We live our value to Be More Awesome by learning from others, sharing ideas, and always improving.
Inspiring positive change: We aim to inspire other businesses in tourism and recreational vehicles. This supports our value to Make Our Planet A Better Place by helping build a more sustainable and ethical future for travel in Aotearoa.
Continually improve: The B Corp framework is a powerful tool for continuous improvement. It requires recertification every three years, pushing us to constantly evolve our practices and find ways to improve.

We’ve always felt a deep sense of kaitiakitanga, or guardianship, for Aotearoa. But good intentions weren't enough. We pursued B Corp certification to hold ourselves to the highest possible standard. We wanted a framework that would challenge us to look deeper, measure our impact, and prove—to ourselves and to our motorhome owners—that our commitment to our land, our people, and our communities is at the core of every single thing we do.
John Managh — CEO and founder
Becoming B Corp-certified was a challenging undertaking for a motorhome company, but we were determined that our business should have a positive impact. To become a B Corp, a company must show it’s making a positive difference. The certification process is thorough. To qualify, a business needs at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, while the average business scores only 50. It’s like a report card that checks every part of a business to see how well it’s doing for people and the planet.
From an operational perspective, B Corp certification means we have made a legal commitment to ensure our mission, values, and governance are open and provide honest insight into our company’s performance and how we can do better.
We create a supportive and inclusive workplace. This includes benefits like free health insurance, extended caregiver leave, and being part of Pride Pledge. A happy team gives you the exceptional service you deserve
Your experience as an owner is important to us. We protect your data and provide excellent customer service, so you can purchase from a company that prioritises integrity and trust.
Your purchase with us creates positive ripples. We are dedicated to partnering with like-minded organisations, from supporting Will & Able (which employs New Zealanders with disabilities) and the Monte Cecilia Housing Trust in our local neighbourhood, to national conservation projects like Trees That Count, which helps restore native forests.
We care about the places you explore in our motorhomes. We offset our emissions with Forever Forests, support conservation projects like Predator Free Hauraki Coromandel, and switch our support fleet to EVs. To cut landfill waste, we partner with Tyrewise to repurpose tyres and run a repair programme so damaged parts are fixed or responsibly recycled rather than replaced.
